Po-Tater’s Story: From Critical Condition to a Joyful Life!
At HART for Animals, we’re committed to ensuring that every homeless cat and dog in our care, no matter their condition, gets the chance to thrive. Thanks to supporters like you, animals at the HART Animal Center receive not only love and attention but also the essential medical treatment they need to heal.
One of those animals is Po-Tater, a tiny kitten who arrived at HART with his life hanging in the balance.
A Rough Start
Po-Tater was found collapsed on a porch, just a few months old, and fighting for his life. He was in pain, unable to use his back leg, and suffering from a dangerous infection.
Because of compassionate supporters like you, our veterinary team was ready. X-rays revealed a severe break in Po-Tater’s left femur. He was stabilized, then scheduled for emergency surgery. During his recovery, he received laser therapy to promote healing, reduce swelling, and help him regain his strength.
A Happy Ending
Thanks to your support, Po-Tater pulled through. He received the surgery, careful post-operative care, and plenty of love from our team. Today, he’s thriving in his forever home and living joyfully on three legs. Losing a limb hasn’t slowed him down one bit! He’s playful, happy, and adored by his new family!
You Make Stories Like This Possible
Po-Tater’s journey is just one of many. Every day, more dogs and cats arrive at HART in need of urgent medical care, food, shelter, and a second chance. On average, it costs $695 each month to care for just one animal until adoption. Adoption fees cover only a small portion of that cost; that’s why your support is so vital.
Since 2003, your generosity has helped HART rescue and adopt more than 15,000 cats and dogs, and provide over 10,700 low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to prevent future suffering. With 86¢ of every dollar going directly to our mission, you can trust that your gift makes a real difference.
Your support today will help save the next Po-Tater.
