When funded, our charitable programs help our rescued animals, provide emergency care for pets in low-income households, and offer free spay/neuter surgery for community cats.
-
These funds are used for major veterinary expenses incurred by animals rescued by HART, such as amputating a leg, treating sarcoptic mange, removing an eye, and others. Katie, an 11-year-old rescue had 27 teeth removed and mammary gland surgery before being adopted.
-
Macy’s Fund provides free spay and neuters for cats in neighborhoods to reduce the overpopulation of kittens in Garrett County. HART will provide free cat surgeries for families who have adopted outside cats but have become overwhelmed with kittens once the cats start reproducing. The program is named in memory of Macy Dawson, a HART Adoption Wing Animal Care Attendant, who died too young in a tragic accident on March 22, 2020. Macy cared deeply for all animals and loved working with the adoptable cats and dogs at the HART Center.
-
The purpose of the program is to help owned animals that need emergency veterinary help. By providing their veterinary services, HART accomplishes its mission of keeping owned pets with their owners. Neil’s Helping Fund helps pet owners with emergency care whose income exceeds the WIC guidelines by a maximum of $10,000 a year. The fund is named in honor of Neil, the clinic’s resident cat, who was a HART rescue.

Lola’s Senior Fund is two-fold: it provides an incentive to potential adopters of senior dogs (10+ years) from HART for Animals, and provides emergency care for senior pets in low-income households. All services are performed at the HART Center’s Bredel Veterinary. Funding for Lola’s Senior Fund began with donations from Lola’s parents, who chose to honor her memory.
