Laser Therapy Magic: Quartz’s Story
When Quartz, a sweet adoptable cat, arrived at HART in early April, he was in rough shape. He came to us with a severe skin infection, painful dermatitis (causing redness, irritation, and itching), and an upper respiratory infection. Our Bredel Clinic team jumped into action right away, beginning treatment with several different medications.
While his skin started to improve, Quartz faced setbacks. In early May, his dermatitis flared up again, and he needed another round of antibiotics. Despite our best efforts, his healing stalled, until we introduced laser therapy to his treatment plan, along with medicated baths.
Laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses light energy to reduce pain, promote healing, and improve comfort, all without additional medications. Whether it’s arthritis, post-surgery recovery, or chronic skin issues, laser therapy offers a gentle yet powerful option for both dogs and cats. Here’s a little bit about Quartz’s healing journey.
Before treatment, Quartz’s skin was red, ulcerated, and painful. Take a look at the photos below to see Quartz’s transformation during his laser journey (a heads-up: the first two photos are a bit hard to see).

After several sessions, his skin had dramatically improved! He had no more rawness or open sores. Quartz was clearly more comfortable, and his overall happiness improved as well!

By July, after about six weeks of laser therapy, Quartz’s skin had dramatically improved! His skin was clear, his fur started growing back, and his overall health and quality of life soared! Through it all, he never lost his playful spirit. Check out his amazing transformation pictures below!
Best of all, after finishing his laser therapy treatments, Quartz was adopted in August! Today, he’s thriving in his forever home with a loving family.
